The Mohave County Probation Adult Recovery Court seeks to connect defendants who suffer from a substantial substance abuse problem to appropriate treatment services in the community to enhance public safety, reduce recidivism, and find appropriate dispositions to the criminal charges by taking into consideration the individual's substance abuse problem, mental and physical health, and the seriousness of the offense.

The minimum duration of Recovery Court is fourteen months and includes five phases. There is a non-adversarial courtroom atmosphere where a judge, probation staff, attorneys, and treatment providers work as a team toward the common goal of breaking the cycle of addiction and criminal behavior. Adult Recovery Court participants have access to a variety of treatment and rehabilitation services, e.g., residential treatment, intensive outpatient, relapse prevention, individual sessions, and recovery residences.  Probation funding of treatment is subject to availability and an evaluation of the justice-involved individual's financial status, including determination of whether they are AHCCCS eligible.

Who Can Be Involved in the Mohave County Adult Recovery Court Program

This program is reserved for non-violent justice-involved individuals who have been determined to have drug problems. Participants enter the program post-conviction.  Upon acceptance, they will be required to participate in the program and comply with all Adult Recovery Court conditions. Successful completion and graduation from the program may result in early termination of probation, unsupervised probation, and/or possible designation of undesignated felony charge(s) as a misdemeanor(s).
